Demonstrating Interoperability with NATO at CWIX

July 18, 2024

This Summer, REDCOM attended NATO’s Coalition Warrior Interoperability Exercise (CWIX) at the Joint Force Training Center in Bydgoszcz, Poland. CWIX 2024 ran for three weeks from June 3-21 and was NATO’s largest digital interoperability exercise. The exercise focused on improving interoperability and readiness for alliance members with the goal of achieving seamless operation across domains in Joint Force scenarios.

REDCOM demonstrated the XRI-400’s crossbanding capabilities with IP, 5G, VHF, and UHF networks and devices. While performing these demonstrations, we utilized the official NATO infrastructure which required using generic RTP lines to connect disparate SIP devices, proving that the XRI and Sigma systems were a viable asset for alliance members.

“NATO has 32 members, with a diverse set of requirements when it comes to national defense. That is why interoperability is so important,” said Patrick Vaughn, Manager, Business Development, REDCOM. “The value that equipment brings to CWIX isn’t so much demonstrated by how it works. It’s demonstrated by how it works with everything else. And that is something our XRI-400 did extremely well.”

REDCOM has been leading discussions on interoperability for years, and attending CWIX was crucial for understanding how the Sigma ecosystem can help improve the alliance’s readiness. By testing the XRI-400’s capabilities with generic RTP lines and SIP endpoints, REDCOM can assist NATO by crossbanding its existing infrastructure with cutting edge communications devices, maintaining the information advantage.

About the XRI-400

REDCOM’s Sigma XRI-400 is a compact but powerful Command and Control platform that solves these interoperability and connectivity challenges by leveraging existing assets and endpoints. The XRI-400 instantly connects radio networks, LTE, VoIP, SATCOM, and more, providing reliable communications in any scenario.

The XRI integrates with existing military equipment without the hassle of a long and convoluted setup process. Because Sigma XRI-400 is a full-featured C2 platform, radio users can communicate directly with users on other radio nets, TSM networks, and SIP endpoints (such as mobile devices and desk phones).
